My name is Joshua Leibowitz, founder and Managing Member of FM Development, LLC.
I live in Bethel, CT with my wife and our two children. I have been in the construction, maintenance, and management
fields since joining Finkelstein Morgan Real Estate (an owner management company) in
1981, as Managing Agent of 12-14 of the approximately 45 New York apartment buildings
owned by them. Prior to 1981 I worked for Finkelstein Morgan as a hardwood floor
installer, painter, and roofer.
As Managing Agent I was responsible for every aspect of building management including,
but not limited to, inspecting, scheduling, and overseeing all aspects of maintenance and repairs, major
capital improvements, construction, collections, legal, and dealing with city building
departments with regard to correction of building violations etc. Over the years I was
very involved with overseeing several gut rehabs, and “mod” rehabs (with the building
still occupied).
After 22 years it was time for a change. In 2003, with all the knowledge learned from my
22 years in the field, I started FM Development, LLC. While still maintaining my affiliation
with Finkelstien Morgan, I went on to do something I always wanted to do, build houses.
I get a great sense of satisfaction in seeing it all come together and doing it right.
I am always on the job to see it’s done as if it’s my own home. My clients are all
very happy with their homes and I have made friends in the process, they know that I’m
there if they should ever need me.

with the creation of custom home designs, as well as even provide interior design services.
My reputation as a builder of quality homes is something that is very important to me. There are very
few good shortcuts in life, and that goes the same in construction. Saving a dollar
could cost you two. I have developed relationships with some very good people who
care about their work, and take pride in the jobs they do. These are people who I can
count on and will continue to use.

I believe in using engineered wood products such as LVLs, Micro LAMS,
I-joists,
Advantech Floorboards
and other state of the art materials. I believe the use of these environmentally smart products is worth the
extra expense as they are stronger and straighter than dimensional lumber and
also minimize shrinkage, squeeks and cracks in wood flooring, etc.
I am now taking quality home building up a notch and have become an ENERGY STAR
partner. What this means to you is that your home will be at least 30% more
energy efficient than the model energy code requires. This is achieved by building
a tighter envelope, using better insulation, windows, high efficiency boilers,
and air conditioner units among other things. It also means monthly savings on
utilities, and oil bills that can amount to hundreds of dollars a year, while
being environmentally friendly. Compliance with ENERGY STAR requirements is verified
by independent inspectors.
